In case you didn’t think you spend too much time on Facebook here is a way to find out if you are guilty and have too much free time on your hands.

  1. Your Posts include good morning or goodnight Facebook.

    Examples:

    “Good Morning FB!!”

“Off to bed early long day tomorrow night all :)”

Facebook is not a person and has no identity.  And even though we may be your ‘friends’, your bedtime isn’t a critical piece of information that we need.

  2. You have friends on Facebook that you have never met in person.

The exception to this rule is of course for networking or pen pal type of communications. Otherwise true friends do more things together than just ‘poke’ each other.  No one is impressed with your 793 friends.

  3. Your playing games 99% of the time.

Example: Farmville, Mafia Wars, Café World
Life is so short, should you really be excited to have 9 Farmville ribbons?  If all your status updates are your latest social game accomplishments, please find a more fulfilling hobby or volunteer.

  4. You send mobile updates multiple times throughout the day sharing nothing significant.

    Example:

“At work until 7 is it Friday yet”

Most daily updates are uneventful and the public doesn’t need to know what’s going on all the time.

  5. Your posts contain multiple missed spelled words.

    Example:

“wasup wourld” or “madd wak ppl on FB. Dey kno who dey is”

Use spell check, those little red lines you see before you post your status should tell you something’s wrong. Okay, accidents happen when you’re moving quickly but let’s try to keep it above a 4th grade level. Also, if you are attempting to shorten a word that is already only 6 letters in length or less, you are just lazy.

Are you guilty of any of these?
